Agius Nikolaus is a shipwreck, that was sunk in 1964.
One of the largest shipwrecks that you can dive in Peniche. Almost 100mts long, the ship was caught on a storm and began to flood.
The crew asked for help as they were passing through Cape Carvoeiro but there was a sudden explosion in the boiler room and it eventually sank.
Today the ship lies at a depth of 66mts to 70mts.
To dive at Agios Nikolaus you have to be a certified technical diver, this is usually a difficult dive with strong currents and low visibility.
It's a dive that we recommend for experienced technical divers only.
