The Calheta do Lagador dive is done from the coast, in the Biscoitos bathing area located on the North coast of Terceira Island.
Here we have a bay of only 4mts of depth. This area is considered an authentic nursery of several species of fish, as it is a sheltered area for juvenile fish such as Groupers, Parrotfish, Seabreams, Barracudas and others.
We can still find Moray eels and Octopuses in the crevices in the rocks. As the depth increases we can observe that the rock formations take the form of small canyons up to a depth of about 14mts.
From this point, we can go North (away from the coast) and observe shoals of pelagic fish in the water column like Amberjacks and Barracudas.
If, on the other hand, we prefer to go East, we can observe the fantastic life that hides and shelters through the canyons.
