In the 1940s and 1950s, this municipality underwent some changes with the construction of the Castelo do Bode Dam, which, although having brought advantages in the fields of electricity production and tourism, motivated, with the rising waters of the Zêzere River, the displacement of many hundreds of people who have had to substantially change their ways of life.
Submerged were immense traces of the reality of that time, including the Fundeiro River Wheel, which today is between 35 and 45 meters deep, very close to a beautiful cliff bathed by the waters of this river.
Next to this Wheel are still two huge houses, one of which has another Wheel of smaller dimensions, and a large vine, practically intact. A real attraction for divers who work in the waters of Albufeira do Castelo do Bode.
